More About the book
Taking a team from average to incredible isn’t about working harder or pushing people more; it’s about leading differently. This book offers a hands-on roadmap for leaders who want to elevate performance by improving communication, trust, and accountability across their teams.
The book begins by setting the stage for sustainable high performance, helping leaders understand the mindset shifts required before real change can happen. It then explores the importance of social styles and ego states, giving leaders practical insight into how different personalities think, react, and collaborate.
From there, the focus moves into the conversations that matter most. Readers learn how to navigate tough conversations, manage their own attitude as a leader, and avoid common interpersonal traps like the Drama Triangle, explored in a guest chapter by Karen Pratt. These chapters provide clear tools for reducing conflict, increasing ownership, and keeping discussions productive.
The second half of the book emphasizes leadership in action. Leaders are taught how to lead like a coach, motivate their team, and create a psychologically safe work environment where people feel confident speaking up and taking risks. Chapters on building trust and effective listening show how small daily behaviors compound into strong, resilient teams.
Finally, the book brings everything together by showing how to foster a proactive team and give feedback that drives growth instead of defensiveness. Each chapter includes actionable tips leaders can apply immediately, making the book a practical field guide rather than a theoretical manual.
Whether leading a corporate team, a startup, or a sports organisation, this book helps leaders create the conditions where people consistently perform at their best.
