BOOK BINDING OPTIONS

PUR BOUND

This is the preferred binding method of most mainstream publishers. It is stronger and more durable, although slightly more expensive than Perfect binding. This typically requires 24 hours for the book to set and is therefore not suitable for urgent deliveries.

PERFECT BOUND

Your standard square back softcover book binding method, the book needs to be 64 pages or more for this method to ensure a strong bind. To have text printed on the spine the book would need to be around 80 pages otherwise it’s too thin for text.

SADDLE STITCH

Saddle stitch is also referred to as “two wire” stitching, this is a stapled book and used for books below 64 pages. Your page count must be divisible by 4, if not, blank pages are added to the back of your book to make up for the shortfall.

COIL BOUND

Also referred to as plasticoil or spiral bound, like our old roadmap books. Recommended for books less than 25mm thick, between 48 and 470 pages.

DUST JACKET HARDCOVER

The case can be bound with a printed lining or a material lining like book cloth, vinyl, etc but would need to be foiled or blind embossed as we cannot print on these materials, a dust jacket is printed, creased and wrapped around the case.

CASEWRAP HARDCOVER

The case (technical term for the cover) can be bound with a printed lining or a material lining like book cloth, vinyl, etc but would need to be foiled or blind embossed as we cannot print on these materials.

THESIS BINDING

Most thesis binding is case wrapped, with a hard cover and gold lettering. The case or cover material can be in red, black or green.
